Our name

On February 28, 2014, the Our Lady of the Annunciation FNE Group was formed in Charles Town, WV. “Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it done to me according to thy word.” Just as Mary chose to follow God’s will, we strive to do the same. We chose the name “Our Lady of the Annunciation” to honor our Blessed Mother Mary in all her perfection. This name will also serve as a constant reminder of one of the reasons the group exists, that is, to help those involved live holy lives in accordance with His divine will.

First, we entrust ourselves to the Blessed Virgin Mary under this tile, to ask her protection so that we may always strive to serve her Son, ready at all times to joyfully respond to His call. By placing ourselves under the Mystery of the Annunciation we ask Our Lady to help us all to live up to our FNE promises: to say to God in all our lives’ demands and experiences: “Be it done unto me according to Thy word.” Additionally, the entire Movement of the Scouts and Guides of Europe has a strong devotion to this mystery, asking all Wayfarer Explorers and Chiefs to pray the Angelus three times a day. This devotion calls us to regularly contemplate the most important things in life: that God is present in our lives and that our response to Him, in imitation of our Blessed Mother, will bring us closer to Jesus and to our eternal destiny in Heaven. Surely with Mary guiding all our FNE undertakings, we are being kept safe on the road to saving our souls.
